How can I apply for a room? |
Basically you can apply online here at any time. You will be informed by e-mail as soon as we can offer available accommodation. The registration is not binding and free of charge. |
Is there something available right now so that I can move in immediately? |
The application period for the winter semester ends on March 31st and for the summer semester on Ocotber 31st. When registered for the winter semester, you will get informed by end of April and for the summer semester by end of November. However, it is definitely worth applying, as there are always applicants who cancle at short notice. |
Can I view the rooms in advance? |
Unfortunately a viewing is not possible due to legal reasons. You can find pictures and floor plans of the different dorms and rooms on our website. |
I have received an acceptance, what's next? |
For the fixed reservation you have to make a security deposit. When we received this deposit, you will get a confirmation from us with the initial information about check-in, contract, etc. You can only move in on weekdays from Monday to Friday during the office hours. |
What are the costs I have to expect? |
If you received a confirmation, you have to pay the security deposit of EUR 700/900. After the contract signing, a one-time processing fee of EUR 60 is due. The monthly usage fee is automatically collected around the 10th of each month from your given bank account. The actual amount depends on the chosen dormitory and room category and will be written in your legal contract. |
How can I cancel a room that has already been reserved? |
A reservation must be cancelled by a written note (mail or email) and can be made free of charge up to 90 days before the start of the contract. From 89 days before the start of contract, the first usage fee cannot be refunded. |
When do I sign the contract? |
When you move in, you will receive a welcome folder with your contract, SEPA direct debit mandate, your key, registration form for magistrate and all the information about the house (house rules, internet usage regulations, house statues, inventory and list of defects). If you need a confirmation of your residence in advance, please contact us.

What do I have to bring with me when I move in? |

There are damages in the room that were there before I moved in. What should I do? |
When you move in you will receive an inventory list and a list of defects. Should you discover damages, bring or send the list to our office. We endeavor to correct and repair the defects as quickly as possible by our in-house technicians. Otherwise the room is considered to be free of defects and the costs of repair will be deducted from your deposit when you move out. |
Is there room cleaning? |
No. You are responsible for cleaning your room / your apartment. Vacuum cleaners can be borrowed in the office free of charge. General areas such as common kitchens, laundry/study rooms, gym are cleaned and disinfected daily by our staff. In Wilhelm Dantine Haus and in Staargasse vacuum cleaners can be found in the common kitchens. |
How can I extend or renew my contract? |
The contract is always valid for one academic year or from the date you move in until September 30th of the respective year. You will receive the information about the contcract extension from the management due in time. If you want to extend, just follow the information in the mail. |
How can I terminate / cancel my existing contract? |
Please contact our office administration and fill out the cancellation form. Depending on the dormitory, the cancellation period is 2 or 3 months by the end of each month. You can find the exact dates in your contract. |
What should be considered when I move out? |
If you officially cancelled your room you will receive a checklist and the date for a room check 3-4 weeks before your contract ends. The key must be returned to the office by the last working day of the month. Please de-register your residence at magistrate and set up a forwarding order for your postal mails. |
How do I get back my security deposit? |
If the room was in a good condition at the room check before you moved out and there is no damage, please send us the de-registration and your bank account details (IBAN + BIC) by e-mail. The deposit will then be refunded within 4-6 weeks. |
